Abstract

There are numerous incidents in the history of medicine where an inaccurate understanding of structure was dogmatically integrated in literature. William Osler wrote that “the greater the ignorance the greater the dogma.” Recent clarification of mesenteric structure has presented a far simpler structure than heretofore thought. The following chapters will describe the scientific opportunities that stem from this clarification. In addition, it will explain the mesenteric basis of clinical practice.
