Abstract

It is necessary to understand the difficulties older aged users find for executing the gestures of tactile interaction in order to avoid their digital exclusion. We have studied the differences in performances between older and younger adult users through a biomechanical analysis of their movements. In this paper, we present the analysis of the postures of the users' wrist during interaction with their fingers on a tablet, horizontally placed on a desk. Results show a greater angular amplitude for older participants which could explain the longer times and the increased number of errors for this group of users. The main contribution of our study is to bring new perspectives for the design and evaluation of interaction with touchscreen.
