Abstract

This paper was inspired by the findings of GEOTEaCH; a forum set up by the authors to chart the future of geotechnical education in Ireland. The inaugural GEOTEaCH colloquium at the University of Limerick in October 2006 hosted geotechnical educators from Ireland and the UK. These events are intended to set the agenda for advancing geotechnical education in Ireland. This paper explores the educational challenges in a digital age and presents suggestions for engaging students in the learning process.
