Abstract

Mesenteric physiology is an emerging field. The recent clarification of mesenteric anatomy from duodenojejunal flexure to mesorectal level provides an ideal platform to better characterize the physiologic relevance of this organ in general. Scientific and clinical communities are now provided with exciting opportunities that will enhance our understanding of its function in normality and hence its role in disease processes.
