Abstract
A mixture theory of low-Reynolds-number microvascular flow is presented, using a finite-element model. The theory can be viewed as an extension of the classical theory of flow through porous media. A first step toward experimental verification is reported, although further work, including larger vessel networks and networks including elastic vessel walls, is needed.
