Abstract
Applications of composite materials make them useful in many engineering products be it automotive, aerospace and other industrial uses. In this study, modal analysis of composite panel for different fiber orientation (at 0°, 30°, 45°, 60° and 90°) is carried out by using ABAQUS software. Different boundary conditions such as clamped-free, free-free, simply supported and clamped-clamped can be introduced in a composite panel. Clamped-clamped boundary conditions have been used in this work. It is proposed that mode shapes are dependent on the fiber orientation based on - viewing and further comparing the different mode shapes of the composite panel. The optimal location of the sensor can be selected by viewing these mode shapes.
