Abstract
Eleven different mycorrhizal types were found on samples of roots of Arctostaphylos uva-ursi and Helianthemum oelandicum spp piloselloides from the Burren, Co. Clare. Three types, Cantharellus aurora, Cenococcum geophilum and Tomentella sp. were common to both hosts; these types are also common on roots of Dryas octopetala in the Burren. Ectomycorrhizas of C. aurora have not been previously reported on roots of either A. uva-ursi or H. oelandicum spp piloselloides, nor have tomentelloid ectomycorrhizas been previously reported from roots of H. oelandicum spp piloselloides. The identities of the other mycorrhizal types were not confirmed by morphological comparisons or DNA evidence.
