NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN TECHNIQUES TO ANALYSE THE PASSAGE OF MULTICARRIER DIGITAL SIGNALS THROUGH NONLINEAR MICROWAVE AND MILLIMETER AMPLIFIERS.

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

Techniques for analyzing the passage of multicarrier digital signals through nonlinear microwave and millimeter amplifiers are presented. Expressions to model such devices are derived using a complex Fourier series expansion of the single carrier envelope characteristic. Techniques for implementing these expressions, which are suited to either time- or frequency-domain packages are outlined. One of the software implementations described, the Controlled Accuracy Model, provides a good and accurate means of inline simulation of the multicarrier operation of the amplifiers. The techniques described are applicable, among others, to the design of system and signal configuration in high-power amplifiers on the payloads of satellite communication systems.
