Abstract

A new insight into the formation of NO2 over Co/γ-Al2O3 catalysts during the C3H6-SCR of NO, which is shown not to be formed via the direct oxidation of NO with O2, was presented. The formation of NO2 over the 0.4 wt %/γ-Al2O3, in the presence of propylene, did not occur through the direct oxidation of NO by O2. The 0.4 wt %/γ-Al2O3 showed yields of NO2 even lower than that of the γ-Al2O3. In contrast, a high loading sample (i.e., 8 wt % Co) had a higher NO oxidation activity but showed no reduction activity and high activity for the combustion of the reductant during SCR reaction.
