Abstract

A novel fiber optic sensor, which is capable of accurately measuring yeast concentration to within 3% over its full range have been developed. This sensor relies upon light being radiated through the cladding of one fiber and detected at the end of an adjacent receiving end. Test have been performed to evaluate the effect of external influences on the sensor's performances and showed that there is no discernible effect of whatsoever.
