Abstract

The effect of process conditions on the oxidative coupling of methane has been studied; factors examined included the effect on the product composition of the oxygen concentration in the reactor feed and of backmixing of the gas in the reactor. It appears that the desired C2 products are susceptible to degradation reactions and that this has consequences for the method of reactor operation.
