title = "Passive suspension incorporating inerters for reduction in road damage caused by heavy vehicles",
abstract = "Road damage caused by heavy vehicles is a significant & long-term problem. This paper investigates the introduction of inerters into conventional spring & damper passive suspensions to reduce road damage. Two suspension layouts are proposed, in which the inerters are placed respectively in parallel and in series with the damper. These are fitted into quarter car and half car models. The maximum resulting reductions in the J95 road damage index are presented.",
