Abstract
This paper charts the emergence in Ireland of a distinct academic and policy
agenda in support of more engagement in research. Specifically, it examines the
collective ambition of Irish Universities to define the landscape of this new policy
arena, with the aim of developing a greater awareness and understanding of engaged research principles and practice, as well as the institutional changes that are necessary for engaged research in Ireland to flourish.
