Abstract

INTRODUCTION Endovascular therapy for peripheral vascular disease has become the mainstay for the majority of revascularization procedures. This is largely due to dramatic advances in device technology, as well as increasing skills of interventionists. Multiple specialists are committed to advancing this aspect of the care of patients with peripheral vascular disease. However, in order to determine the appropriate therapy for patients with vascular disease, accurate diagnostic testing must be available before invasive procedures are attempted. This chapter highlights current strategies for the diagnosis of peripheral artery disease (PAD) of the lower extremities, renal and extracranial carotid arteries.
