Abstract
Critical limb ischemia is the most severe manifestation of peripheral artery disease with severely compromised perfusion and oxygenation of the lower limb. Critical limb ischemia is defined by the TASC II guidelines as a condition characterized by ischemic rest pain, ischemic ulcers or gangrene in one or both limbs attributable to atherosclerotic peripheral artery disease. We discuss the epidemiology, diagnosis, and interventional treatment of critical limb ischemia in the following chapter.
