Abstract

The objective of this work was to evaluate the physical and mechanical properties of the particleboard produced with three species of the genus Eucalyptus (E. grandis, E. dunnii and E. benthamii), from reforestation with13 years. The work involved the production of panels with the pure species and the mix between them, a total of seven treatments. Was used the urea formaldehyde resin and paraffin emulsion. The pressing cycle was 160°C and 40 kgf/cm pressure and pressing time of 8 minutes. Were conducted physical and mechanical tests according to the procedures of NBR14810 (ABNT, 2006), which were submitted to analysis of variance and Scott-Knott́s test at 95% probability. From the physical and mechanical properties it can be concluded that panels produced with the 2 alternative forest species, Eucalyptus dunnii and Eucalyptus benthamii, both in pure form and in the mix of species have potential use for the segment, compared to the Eucalyptus grandis. However, it is necessary to fit the particle size and the variable of pressing to attend quality standards, in relation to the values of modulus of rupture and elasticity to static bending.
