Work related musculoskeletal disorders and stress have consistently be found to be problematic workplace issues reported in surveys throughout the European Union. There is growing recognition that workplace psychosocial factors are somehow involved in development of Work-related Musculo Skeletal Disorders (WMSDs). Several theories have been proposed to explain the apparent relationship between WMSDs and stress. Stress at work often reflects problems with the psychosocial work environment. In the literature there are many questionnaires that measure the characteristics of the psychosocial work environment. But, appropriate tools for the assessment of this relationship is not obvious. The purpose of this paper was to evaluate seven of the most commonly used questionnaires in industry today and to assess their suitability for assessing the interaction between psychosocial work environment and MSDs.
