Abstract

The advancement of technology has been significantly propelled by the Internet of Things (IoT), which has accelerated the processes of data collection, interpretation, and dissemination. In IoT networks, the sensor nodes or devices are connected by using data communication technologies. A wide range of IoT applications have gained popularity like smart cars, smart homes, smart agriculture, and smart industries. However, these networks have various challenges including adaptability, compatibility, and security. Security is always on the top due to users' personal data exchange and transmission. Various different types of security threats exist in these networks. This chapter explores the security threats, attacks, and other vulnerabilities in these networks. This chapter also presents the detection and prevention methods designed for multimedia data security. As these networks need lightweight security solutions due to limited resources enabled by devices of IoT networks. The chapter concludes with findings to prevent these networks from any type of security violations and provides a roadmap to the new researchers in this domain.
