Abstract

This paper addresses the formal description of services for advertisement on wireless billboard channels (WBCs). As using as little bandwidth as possible is one of the WBC's desired properties, the basic data structure -the service description (SD)- is formatted with the abstract syntax notation (ASN.1) and encoded/decoded with packed encoding rules (PER). A SD's template division and an efficient software encoding/decoding architecture are proposed.
