Abstract
Dr Yonit Kosovske curated, directed, produced, and performed in a concert programme titled 'Still, she rises' at the 2025 Limerick Early Music Festival. The concert featured period instruments and chamber music by contemporary female composers from Ireland and elsewhere around the globe. The programme highlighted several works by Australian composer and viol player Brooke Green, including the Limerick dramatic premiere of 'Fuming: Johanna Fitzgibbon of Limerick', which Green composed for Yonit's Baroque trio. The programme also presented the world premiere of 'Baile' by Dr Xenia Pestova Bennett, whose new composition for amplified clavichord, toy piano, viola da gamba, and recorded voices explores the universal themes of 'home, migration, and (be)longing.' Baile was made possible with funding awarded to Kosovske in 2024 from an Arts Council Music Commissions Award. Other repertoire on the programme included Jean Ahn's virtuosic duo 'Archimedes' Principle' and Tal Arbel's 'Alchemy'. The concert was followed by a seminar with Q&A.
