Abstract

During the present investigation, comparative study of primary metabolites i.e. Carbohyrates, Protein, Ascorbic acid, Starch, Lipids, Nucleic acids, Chlorophylls and Caretenoids, of genus Cassia were determined. The three species Cassia pumila, C. nodosa and C.renigera were undertaken for study and all the parts of respective plants were analyzed for their chemical composition. It was found that the higher level of starch, lipids, chlorophylls and nucleic acid was observed in Cassia nodosa leaves and phenols contents was higher in leaves of C. nodosa as well as in pods of C. pumila. The protein and lipid were found to be higher in pods of C. renigera.
