Synthesis and single crystal structure of the 1:1 binary complex between pyrene and ferrocene

Abstract

The synthesis and structural characterization of the first binary complex between ferrocene and pyrene is reported. Two-dimensional distorted hexagonal networks of pyrene are sustained by edge-to-face interactions. These networks contain dimers of ferrocene molecules via C-H(Cp)⋯π(pyrene) non-covalent interactions.
