The effect of geometrical and material properties of the adhesive bond on the vibrational characteristics of a metallic plate driven by a ring-shaped piezoelectric ceramic

Research output: Contribution to conferencePosterpeer-review

Abstract

Introduction Piezoelectric ceramic actuators bonded to metallic plates are used in modern engineering applications to generate vibrations in perforated metallic meshes which in turn produce fluid atomization. These piezoelectric actuators (PZT) are generally bonded to the metallic plates by means of adhesive layers. The geometrical and material properties of the adhesive bond affects the performance of the structure [1]. The vibration of a stack assembly comprising of a ring-shaped piezoelectric ceramic, adhesive bond, annular steel support plate and vibrating metallic plate were simulated in ANSYS 17.0.
