Abstract

The influence of sodium impurities on the methanation activity of coprecipitated Ni/Al2O3, catalysts was investigated. The specific methanation activity was found to decrease substantially upon addition of relatively small quantities of sodium ions, whereas the nickel surface area decreased only slowly with increasing sodium content.
