Thermal ageing of peat bitumen

Abstract

Peat bitumens, obtained by solvent extraction, have been subjected to thermal ageing using procedures developed for road binder materials. Observed changes in mass and chemical constitution during ageing are consistent with a process involving acid-alcohol condensation.
