Abstract
Absolute age determination of calcite formations in caves (eg stalagmites) are often of archaeological interest. Experiments often with uranium series and radiocarbon dating indicated that such 'speleothems' may often be contaminated with up to a few percent of present 14C activity. -from British Archaeological Abstracts
