Abstract

Crystals of 1,4-Diphenylbutadiyne, 1, have been isolated from the decomposition of the cuprate prepared from the reaction between lithium phenylacetylide and copper(I)cyanide in diethylether solution at room temperature. 1,4-Diphenylbutadiyne, I, organizes itself into the expected herringbone motif in the solid state.
